Biographical Information[edit]

Yasuhisa Kubo pitched for Nissan Motor Co. in the Japanese industrial leagues from 1982-1999, the last three years as player-coach. He remained a coach with them until 2009. In 2011, he became head coach of Panasonic in the industrial leagues. He pitched for the Japanese national team in the 1984 Amateur World Series, going 3-0 with a 2.03 ERA, beating Venezuela, the Dutch Antilles and South Korea. He tied Sheng-Hsiung Chuang, Reinaldo Costa, Celis Gonzalez, Julio Romero and Jorge Luis Valdés for third in the Series in wins, one behind Julio Moya and Hiroshi Nagatomi. While Kubo and Nagatomi were a combined 7-1, the rest of the staff was just 1-4 to leave Japan shy of a medal.
